Based on Type-Moon's 1st 'official' company game release, Fate/Stay Night, the story follows a young high school student name Emiya Shirou as he gets caught up in an epic war spanning generations between rival magicans and servants for possession of the one true Holy Grail.

Ten years ago, a child by the name of Shirou survives a hugh fire that destoryed his home and fellow neighbors' homes, killing everyone except for him. Recovering, he is adopted by an old man by the name of Emiya Kiritsugu, a magi himself, whom teaches Shirou the way of a magi before he too dies a few years later. Now as a high school student, Shirou lives in Fuyuki City at his adopted father's home under the care of his teacher Fujimura Taiga and his friend's sister Matou Sakura and living as a normal person while at the same time practicing his magical abilities to become a protector for justice as a magican.

One day though everything changes as Shirou watches a fight between two servants and ends up getting killed by one of them to preserve the secrecy of the event. But instead of being dead, Shirou is still alive and heads home to clear his head. Realizing he is still a mark man, Shirou defends himself against this same servant. Just before he`s about to die for good, a new female servant appears before him, saves him and then greets him with these words "Are you my master?" .

Now Shirou has to come to terms with being one of the seven master in command of a 'servant', a summoned heroic spirit, in a secret war that has been fought for generation by different magicans from near and far for possession of the 'Holy Grail', a relic said to grant its owner any wish their hearts desire. By Shirou's side is said to be the strongest servant class a master could have whom goes by the name of Saber. Can Shirou win this war to prevent the events from 10 years ago from happan again or potenially lose his life against a enemy he once considered to be called a friend?
